Honey extraction workshop held at Landmark Park
Published: June 24, 2009
Landmark Park will host a workshop on honey extraction on Saturday, June 27, at 9 a.m. The workshop is presented by the Wiregrass Beekeepers and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
The workshop is open to the public and free with paid gate admission. Guests will have a chance to watch as honey from the hives at Landmark Park is extracted and uncapped by hand. Cappings from the honey extraction are used to make soap, lip balm and lotion. Nothing from the hive is wasted. Honey and other products will be on sale at the park on the day of the workshop.
Admission to the park is $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 3-15, with free admission to park members and children 3 and under.
Landmark Park is located on U.S. Highway 431, three miles north of Dothan’s Ross Clark Circle. For more information, contact the park office at 794-3452.
