Seminar focuses on mental illness

A Community Crisis Intervention Seminar will be held Oct. 10 from 8 a.m. to noon in the Rane Hall Wheelless Auditorium at Wallace Community College. Sponsored by the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Wallace Community College, the seminar is geared to law enforcement officers, lawyers and judges, mental health providers and consumers, health professionals and family members.
Topics will cover police response to mental illness and the importance of the community working together to help those who have a mental illness. For more information and a reservation, call Zoe Newby at 702-2952 or Rita Fike at 726-4521.
There is no charge for attending the seminar. However, four continuing education units are available for medical personnel and social workers for $15, and a certificate is available for law enforcement for $5.
