MUSIC
Hear live country music at the Crosscreek Junction Opry Show on Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available at the door. Crosscreek Junction is at 212 Johnny Murphy Road. Take U.S. 231 South to Highway 109, turn right and follow to Johnny Murphy Road and turn right.
A country music talent contest will be held the day of the show at 1 p.m. The winner will sing with a live band that evening and compete with other winners for a free recording session in Tennessee. Entry fee for the contest is $30. Call (800) 805-4416.

The Featured Players Theatre, 158 S. Foster St. in downtown Dothan, will host an Open Mic Night every Thursday in August. Amateur poets, singers, stand-up comics and other talented folks are invited to take to the stage.
Admission is $6; show starts at 7 p.m.
MUSIC & DANCE
Jazz music with Dexter Clemons Thursday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at Sashay dance club, 105 South Cherokee Ave. off West Main Street. The club features dance lessons Tuesday through Saturday for different dance styles, including tango, salsa and swing. Call 796-6709.

FRIDAY, AUG. 15
ART
The ARTrageous art show will be held Friday, Aug. 15, at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Dothan. This year’s event, called Eight for Art, will feature eight artists from around the Southeast. The event raises money for the center’s after-school and summer programs.
A VIP artist reception begins at 7 p.m.; general admission to the gallery is at 8 p.m. The Cultural Arts Center is at 909 S. Saint Andrews St. Casual summer attire is recommended.

MUSIC
A CD release party will be held for The Springs on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 7 p.m. The country-Christian group will perform at the Hillcrest Baptist Church Youth Center in Enterprise with Lamar Morris of Opp, former guitarist for Hank Williams Jr., and the group 84 West. The Springs is currently up for several Inspirational Country Music awards through the Christian Country Music Association, including vocal group of the year, new artist of the year, and a youth in music award.
MUSIC
The comedy band Seth & Willie Fred will appear at The Featured Players Theatre on Saturday, Aug. 16. Will Brewer, Chris Goss and B&E Acoustic Entertainment will also perform. Admission is $8; show starts at 8 p.m. The theater is at 158 S. Foster St. in downtown Dothan.

THURSDAY, AUG. 21
ART
Art After Hours will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. Admission is $5 per person and free for museum members. Art after Hours is held the third Thursday of each month and features live music and hors d’oeuvres. Must be 18 to enter. A cash bar is available. August entertainment will be provided by the Chris Hodges Band, a local jazz band.
