Columbia man charged with escape from police

Houston County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Columbia man Monday and charged him with felony escape from the Webb Police Department.
According to court records, deputies charged Kenneth Max Johnson Jr., 36, of North County Road 55, with felony third-degree escape. Johnson was charged with escape from Webb Police Chief Chris Jerkins on May 22.
Johnson was being held in the Houston County Jail on a $50,000 bond, which was set by Circuit Court Judge Butch Binford.
