Dothan man arrested for DUI after high-speed pursuit

The Houston County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Dothan man late Friday night after a high-speed pursuit from Slocomb to near Cottonwood.
Francisco Ovido, 42, led authorities on a chase after a Slocomb Police officer attempted a traffic stop, according to Houston County Sheriff’s Capt. Antonio Gonzalez.
Authorities laid road spikes that eventually stopped Oviedo’s vehicle on Willie Varnum Road. According to Gonzalez, Ovido is charged with driving under the influence, but other charges are likely to follow.
“He just refused to stop,“ said Sgt. Alan Cole of the Slocomb Police Department. “We pursued him at a low rate of speed for a while, then it got a little faster and wound up here. Houston County spiked his vehicle, and he finally stopped here.“
Nobody was injured in the pursuit.

I am confused on about road spikes being put out on Willie Varnum Road. The reason I am confused is this chase ended up right beside my home. The driver of the Toyota Tundra had turned into the driveway next to my home. Officers jumped the ditch and did pit maneuver in the driveway on private property. My understanding of your news article is the road spikes were what stopped the Toyota. If the road spikes stopped the Toyota why was no tires flated or damaged? I feel as a citizen of Houston County if you do a news article it needs the correct information printed.
