Brundidge native killed in Scottsboro
An Brundidge native was found murdered in north Alabama Friday.
According to the Daily Sentinel, a Scottsboro paper, Michael Faulk, 50, who resided in Scottsboro, was found dead in a rural area off County Road 46 near Mud Creek in the Scottsboro area.
Faulk, who was mentally handicapped, had been missing since Wednesday.
Shortly after the discovery of Faulk’s body, Scottsboro police arrested 30-year-old James Stewart and charged him with murder. Stewart and Faulk resided in the same apartment complex. Scottsboro Police Major Ron Latimer said a motive for the killing has yet to be established.
Wanda Bass, Faulk’s niece, on Saturday said Faulk was beaten to death by Stewart after Faulk and Stewart argued about money Stewart allegedly stole from him. Faulk had lived with Bass in Banks for a time.
“I’m devastated, I had gotten close to him when I had taken care of him,“ she said. “...He was very trusting he had trusted this man who lived next to him and even let him use his vehicle. It’s heartbreaking to think someone you thought was your friend could do something like this to you.“
Stewart is being held without bond in the Jackson County Jail. Faulk’s body has been sent to the state crime lab for an autopsy.
