The drive to BamaJam

Total driving time from the intersection of Highway 84 and the circle in Enterprise - coming from Dothan - to the parking space at BamaJam was about 30 minutes.

We hit Enterprise between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Traffic ran smoothly until about two miles before the festival grounds. Then it started backing up. Troopers, deputies and police officers were directing traffic at the turnoff on Highway 167 through the entrance to BamaJam.

Getting to a parking place was the slowest part of the trip. There are two lanes going into the field, but it wasn’t too bad. About halfway to your spot, you get a sticker on your windshield and must fork out the $10 parking fee, $20 for VIP.

Leaving BamaJam after ZZ Top last night was interesting. The parking lot was chaotic with cars and trucks zigzagging across the fields looking for a quick and easy way out. The main line of exit traffic was excruciatingly slow. Most people were courteous and let the waiting cars into the main line of traffic.

Law enforcement officials are at the exit gate to BamaJam and traffic runs smoothly from there.

But inside the field, you’re on your own.
