A 48-year-old Abbeville woman was killed late Friday night when she lost control of her 2000 Ford Mustang on Alabama Highway 95 in Henry County.

Donna Lynn Jones was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, about five miles north of Abbeville. Henry County coroner Derek Wright said it appears Jones’ car may have left the road while negotiating a curve, and the vehicle may have overturned as she attempted to get it back on the road.

Jones was not wearing a seat belt. The accident is still being investigated by Alabama State Troopers.

Accident in Jackson County claims life

A written release from the Florida Highway Patrol states Clarence Jones of Sneads then attempted to gain control of the vehicle, but the car went all the way across County Road 271, off the other side of the road, then struck a tree. He was taken by helicopter to a Tallahassee hospital and later pronounced dead.
