Leave Sarah alone

I read Dale McFeatters’ recent article in the Dothan Eagle. He made it clear that he is no friend of Sarah Palin. He makes the statement that she has a gift for causing controversy and starting fights wherever she goes.

McFeatters gives two examples, one at a Republican fundraising dinner and the other where she quoted Newt Gingrich accusing her of plagiarizing from the former House speaker. Of course Newt was fine with the quote.

It has been more than 100 days since the election and I would think that any governor would have a full schedule every day, but she causes controversy and starts fights wherever she goes. Wow, she must be pretty beaten up by now.

Both these lame examples don’t hold water and he knows this, but doesn’t seem to care.

Mr. McFeatters also seemed to be making fun of Sarah for thanking our troops for putting their lives on the line for us to secure free speech.

“You can hear the sergeant telling his platoon that, yes, tonight’s mission was exceptionally dangerous, but vital to securing the right to hear bad jokes on late-night TV talk.”

If Mr. McFeatters and I were made to bow down five times a day to Allah, I think we would be inclined to thank our troops five times a day, not just in Iraq but the thousands all over the world fighting for our right to write these letters.

I don’t know if McFeatters writes for a newspaper or is a stand-up comedian, but it appears by the article to be the latter.

The far left and the far right don’t get it. If far left would leave Sarah alone and far right would leave the president alone for the next 100 days, both would be less popular and the rest of us could have some peace.
