Letter: It began with the original sin
Published: November 4, 2009
I feel I must respond to Karen Spears Zacharias’s Oct. 23 column. If she thinks God did not love his mother, then she has some serious problems. As far as menopause and any other problems, we humans brought them on ourselves when Adam and Eve sinned.
God has blessed us over and over. He has given us everything we could need or want, but like a bunch of spoiled, rotten children, we are never satisfied. The more we get, the more we want.
Of course, we have some sicknesses and problems to bear, but all of this started with sin in the Garden of Eden.
Instead of loving God and each other, many people proudly belong to hate groups such as the Ku Klux Klan, skinheads and women’s liberation — yes, liberation, which has all but destroyed the natural order of life.
I do not care how mad the feminists get, a man and woman are equal but they are not the same.
The Bible plainly states that “women are to be good keeps of home.” Someone has to clean, cook and take care of the children. Why would a woman hire someone to do this and then pursue a career?
Can’t we see how this nation has gone down since we rejected God? God loves us, and he surely loves his mother.
Before he was crucified, Jesus said to his disciple John and his mother, Mary: “Son, behold thy mother; Mother, behold thy son.”
He wanted John to be like a son and see about his mother.
How many of us would quit thinking about ourselves long enough to do that? We need Christ and the clock’s ticking.

I am more sure than ever that religion is truly a drug and should be regulated as such.
I love watching Nicolas Cage movies, and I idolize him. He is famous. A rich guy, I believe. He has plenty of movies, that’s why I can’t believe he is in financial problem. The celebrity rags have been buzzing about the Nicholas Cage financial problems. It appears that his former business manager neglected to pay any of the taxes Cage would have owed, which was his charge, and mismanaged his investments and properties, to the point that Nicholas Cage broke from paying the IRS and creditors might be a possibility, or at least that’s what is alleged by the lawsuit Cage filed. If this guy tried to pull a Bernie Madoff, then he not only deserves to pay Cage back every penny, but do some time in the clink. Seeing the Nicholas Cage financial problems story unfold makes one think about doing some credit repair for one’s self.
