Providence downs Kinston

Providence Christian improved to 24-2 with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 win over Kinston on Tuesday in high school volleyball action.
Sara Cary had 32 assists, 10 digs and two aces, Katie Dowd had 16 kills and 13 digs, Amy Brown six assists, five kills and eight digs, Andrea Charlton nine kills, six digs and three aces, Elizabeth Dowd seven kills and 13 digs, Madison Longchamp 10 digs and Whitney Devane seven kills.
In the JV game game, Providence rallied past Kinston 22-25, 25-9, 15-11. Bailey Byrd had 25 assists to lead PCS. Tanner Stewart had five kills, and Jessica Mizell and Theresa Fabbrinni each added seven kills.
In the junior high game, PCS edged Kinston 25-12, 23-25, 15-11. Providence was led by Caroline Jones, who had five aces, three assists and three digs, and Marie Hare, who had six digs. Mary Palm added eight assists.
Dothan beat Northview 25-20, 25-23, 25-20: The win gives the Tigers a sweep of their rivals. Kaitlin Sizemore served on 13 points and had two kills, Carmela Kirkland had six kills and four blocks, Katie Andrews served on 10 points and had six kills and Tiffany Martin earned five kills and 19 assists.
For Northview, Mercedez Lawrence had seven kills, five blocks, seven digs and five aces, Amanda Stefin had two kills, three blocks, nine digs and one ace and Madison Poland had six digs, three aces and five assists.
Dothan also won the JV match, 25-20, 25-17 as Caroline Faulk served on 13 points and Samantha McDonald 12.
Enterprise defeated Geneva 25-18, 25-22, 25-13: Cassie Wilcox had 18 assists and four digs to lead the Wildcats. Ashli Thomas had eight kills and six blocks, Julie Stroud eight digs, Ashley Smith seven kills, Jenae Pouncy six kills and Brittany Perry five kills.
For Geneva, Macy Duncan served on six points and had 10 digs, Lacresha Fikes had 10 kills and four blocks and Marisa Jenkins had 10 assists. Kasey Carswell added eight assists and two blocks, S’hena Myhand had four kills and Shae Ware served on six points.
Ashford defeated Daleville 25-15, 19-25, 26-24, 25-21: Leslie Morrow led the way with three aces, nine kills, six blocks and nine digs, and Tanesha Jones had 19 kills, 10 blocks, seven digs and an ace. Also for Ashford, Kalee McSwain had three aces and two digs.
Daleville won the junior varsity match, 25-12, 25-18. For Ashford, Jessica Vann had four aces and a dig, Rachel Rafferty two aces and Brantley Tolar two aces, two digs and a kill.
Carroll beat Charles Henderson 25-11, 25-13, 25-19: Shanice Faleru had eight aces, five kills and one dig, Tia Faleru had one ace, three kills and one dig, Cassie Hull had six aces and 11 assists, Kia Borders had four aces, 10 kills and two digs and Ciara Henry had two aces.
Carroll won the JV match 25-23, 25-18 as Kayla Edwards had three aces and one kill, Kelsey Richmond had two aces, two kills and one assist, Kirstin Killing had five aces and Gabby Hendrick two aces and one dig.
Zion Chapel beat Straughn 25-16, 21-25, 25-16, 25-23: The Rebels improved to 15-1 as Kelli Behrens earned seven kills, four aces, three blocks and nine digs for Zion Chapel. Cheyenne Nelson had nine kills, two blocks and 15 digs. Janie Hall had 27 digs, four aces and two blocks and Ciara Smith had 20
assists.
Northside Methodist downs Dale County Christian 25-7, 25-4, 25-16: For NMA, Kendall Smith had eight kills and five aces and Winter Bruner had 14 aces and two kills.
In the JV game, Northside Methodist fell to Ridgecrest 25-20, 28-26: Katie Kowalsky had four aces for NMA.
Houston Academy beat Rehobeth 25-21, 25-13: For Rehobeth, Hayden Brawner and Carley Parker had four digs.
JV Football
Dale County 14, Geneva 6: Tyler Rogers threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Jackson with three minutes left, lifting Dale County to a 14-6 win over Geneva. Robert Turner scored on a 62-yard run for Dale County’s other score.
Richard Duby recorded nine tackles to lead the Warriors.
Rehobeth 42, Houston County 16: Corey Perkins and Hunter Curran both accounted for two touchdowns, leading the Rebels over the Lions.
Perkins had a 45-yard interception return for a score and a 90-yard touchdown run. Curran scored on a 1-yard run and threw a 26-yard TD pass to Tyler Simonds.
Taylor Patterson scored on a 4-yard run and Marcus Shealey on a 20-yard run.
Perkins scored on a two-point conversion and Curran passed to Dante Allen for another two-point conversion.
Patrick Smith scored on runs of 1 and 2 yards for Houston County.
Alex Watson added an interception for Rehobeth.
Goshen 20, Pike County 14: Jacari Townsend scored on a 2-yard run and Steven Rodgers completed a 73-yard touchdown pass to Quazery Gresham for Pike County. Townsend also had 12 tackles on defense and Stephen Foster ran in a two-point conversion.
Providence Christian 28, Wicksburg 20 (OT): Justin Peak scored three touchdowns for Providence on runs of 2, 4 and 5 yards. Kyle Eriksen scored on a 3-yard run and Will Mahone had an interception. The game was tied 12-12 at the end of regulation.
Slocomb 20, Houston Academy 7: The Raiders’ lone TD came on a 16-yard pass from Justin Cullifer to Blake Jordan midway through the second quarter.
The score was set up on a 56-yard catch by Lawrence Johnson. Lawson Brakefield kicked the extra point.
Slocomb led 14-0 before the Raiders scored. The Red Tops added a third quarter touchdown.
Wallace Malone had 54 yards rushing for HA.
No stats were reported from Slocomb.
Abbeville Middle School 20, Ashford 8: Abbeville took the win as Trent Nowell completed a 35-yard TD pass to Dez Brown, Harold Blanchard scored on a 10-
yard run and Jerrell Nelson a 3-yard run.
