Dewayne Whigham named player of week

The Rebel running back accounted for 394 total yards, including 239 rushing on 24 carries, and three touchdowns, leading the Rebels to a 26-21 upset of previously-ranked Elba.

Whigham’s three touchdowns were all rushing scores, including a 74-yard run with less than three minutes to go that was the go-ahead score. He also set up another Long touchdown with a 95-yard kickoff return to the 2-yard line.

In addition to his rushing total of 239 yards, he had 133 yards off four kickoffs and 22 yards on two pass receptions. Whigham also made five tackles on defense, one for a loss.
