Local roundup: Wiregrass Cardinals win two

Blake Martz hit a pair of three-run home runs in one game and he and T.J. Rivera had four hits on the day to help the Wiregrass Cardinals 19u team earn two wins in the North Florida Classic in Bonifay on Friday.
In the first game, Martz helped power the Cardinals past Tallahassee 10-6. William Teal was the winner pitcher, going five innings. Sam Judah pitched the final two.
Rivera had three hits, including a homer. Logan Pierce had a double. Cass Abercrombie and Daniel Whitfield had RBI singles.
In the second game, Rivera had a double and drove in two runs as Wiregrass defeated the Circle City Blues 6-3. Judah had three hits, including two doubles. Martz added two hits. Shawn Harrison was the winning pitcher. He went five innings. Sloan Simmons pitched the final two.
The Cardinals play at 11 a.m. today as the Classic continues.
Dothan Post 12 stays perfect: At Columbia, Tenn., Dothan Post 12 remained unbeaten at the Independence Day Classic, beating Mayfield, Ky., 12-1 and Excelsior, Minn., 6-5. Dothan advances to the playoff round today.
Against Mayfield, Jordan Reid struck out six for the win. Logan Dunlap homered, Brennan Olive doubled twice, Taye Larry had two singles and two RBIs, Matt Whitton had two doubles and four RBIs, Hunter Young had two singles and Tyler Gregory singled and doubled.
Against Excelsior, Billy Gunnett got the win in relief. Olive and Matt Ragan each went 2-for-3 and Whitton singled and tripled.
