Kickin’ Country 93.7 plans to make Christmas a little brighter for children and adults of the Wiregrass area. Pictured are the radio personalities of the new Kickin’ Country. Amie Pollard and Ken Carlile, morning show hosts of Pollard and K.C. with 93.7 Kickin’ Country, may be new to the call letters, but they are not new to the Wiregrass community. For years, the duo has helped children, organizations and several other functions during their time of need, and this year will be no different.
However, the management and staff at 93.7 Kickin’ Country will attempt something different this holiday season.
“We are wanting to remind everyone of the true meaning of Christmas,” said Amie Pollard. “We are going to do this by having the first radio personality and radio station staff live nativity scene.”
The event will take place December 13, 4-9 p.m. The location will be announced at a later time.
“We are very excited about the nativity scene,” said Pollard. “I will be portraying Mary, and K.C. will be portraying Joseph. We will also have live animals in the event, and all the employees here at 93.7 will be participating in the event as well. This will be free to the public, and we hope everyone will drive by and enjoy us portraying the true meaning of Christmas.”
On December 2, 93.7 will pitch in and support Burgers for Babies.
“We have teamed up with Hardees to help raise funds for the March of Dimes,” said Pollard. “Anyone wishing to support the March of Dimes can dine at Hardees, purchase a little thick burger, fries, drink and cookie for $5. There will be different radio personalities at Hardees locations. This is just a another way we decided to help our children.”
Pollard and K.C. will also participate in the Toys for Tots program.
“We will be located at the Southside Walmart SuperCenter on December 6 beginning at 7 a.m.,” said Pollard. “This is the third year K.C. and I have participated in the Toys for Tots, and everyone knows that children hold a special place in our heart. We will be collecting new toys for children of all ages from newborn up to teenagers. Anyone can stop by and drop off a new toy, or, if they had rather just give us money at the end of the day, I will go in Wal-Mart and purchase the needed gifts to help make Christmas a little brighter for the children.”
93.7 Kickin’ Country will also host the Kickin’ Christmas Cash.
“The Kickin’ Christmas Cash will make someone very happy during this holiday season,” said Pollard. “This will allow one individual a chance to win $2,500 for Christmas. We started this contest the week after Thanksgiving.”
Although Kickin’ Country 93.7 seems to have a busy schedule during the month of December, the fun keeps coming from the Kickin’ gang.
The management and staff at Kickin’ Country decided to help get everyone in the Christmas spirit this year by doing something a little different.
“We know everyone gets caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holidays,” said Pollard. “But, we believe we have found a way to help slow everyone down to just enjoy the season. One week during the month of December we will visit local businesses. We will be asking for businesses to submit a request for their company.”
Each company chosen will receive a small Christmas party thrown by Kickin’ Country. The party will consist of of the Kickin’ Christmas crew visiting the company, providing goodies and, not to mention, Christmas carols performed by the one and only Kickin’ 93.7 Christmas crew.
Pollard and K.C. have been supporters of the Wiregrass community for years, and they vow this year will be no different.
“We are trying to bring a lot of the traditions of the Christmas season back,” said Pollard. “So many have forgotten the true meaning of Christmas. We are wanting to bring that back.”
Kickin’ Country 93.7 will also have various other Christmas surprises held during the month of December to remind everyone the true meaning of Christmas.
“We are very excited to be able to offer these few services to our community,” said Pollard.
“Over the past few months, we have seen the support from our listeners and now we want to show our support to those in need.”
