I’m one of the voters to put Alabama in the top spot instead of moving Texas up to No. 1. Of course you know by now the majority had Texas at No. 1, thus the Longhorns take over the top spot. I took a few days of vacation this past week, thus didn’t get a chance to watch the Oklahoma-Texas game to get a real feel for it. I did my rankings late Saturday night from our pop-up camper, thanks to wireless Internet where I could review all the scores and get my thoughts together. Below you’ll see how I voted this week.
1. Alabama
2. Texas
3. Penn State
4. Texas Tech
5. Southern Cal
6. Oklahoma
7. Florida
8. BYU
9. Georgia
10. Oklahoma State
11. Ohio State

13. LSU
14. Utah

With the Auburn offense in shambles, and neither Kodi Burns or Chris Todd showing much at quarterback, I have to wonder why third stringer Neil Caudle hasn’t at least been given an opportunity on the field.
In the A-Day game, I was surprised with the speed he showed when scrambling, considering the knee problems he’s had in the past. He’s got a strong arm, but has been guilty of throwing into traffic too often.
Still, here’s a kid that was a star in high school, and I would like to see him at least get another look at running this offense. He is among those signaling in the plays, so he likely has a good knowledge of the system.
Right now he’s definitely the forgotten man, but in the weeks to come, who knows?
Maybe he’ll get a chance.
