It’s official

The official word is Tommy Tuberville resigned, but you better believe it came down to athletics director Jay Jacobs and Tuberville not seeing eye-to-eye on the direction of the program. I’m sure it was a mutual parting.
Jacobs will meet with the media on Thursday, so maybe we will get more answers.
Tuberville met with the players around 6 p.m., and after a short meeting, everyone was on their way.
It will be interesting to see how fast Jacobs can move on a replacement.
One thing is for sure, he better take time to find the right person. A quick fix isn’t the answer.

It’s over for Tuberville

By Jon Johnson

News that Tommy Tuberville is out at Auburn really wasn’t that much of a surprise after meetings that could have been concluded in one day spilled over into three.
As Tuberville and athletics director Jay Jacobs continued to meet on Wednesday, I figured there was a good possibility the coach was on his way out.
We don’t know at this time if it was a mutual parting of ways, or a firing. What is obvious is that things went sour after the initial Monday meeting.
It’s my belief Tuberville, despite the lopsided loss to Alabama, was still in line to remain head coach before the first meetings on Monday.
What happened following that, I don’t know.
We’ll hopefully find out more in the coming hours, and certainly in the coming days.
No official release has been issued from the university at this point.
