Sent in my final AP Top 25 rankings on Thursday night, just minutes after Florida put the finishing touches on a win against Oklahoma.
Despite many emails from Utah supporters wanting No. 1 consideration, my mind was already made up to go with the winner of the BCS Championship game as No. 1, followed by Utah.
Below is my final rankings. It was fun to do this season.
No. 1 Florida
No. 2 Utah
No. 3 Texas
No. 4 Southern Cal
No. 5 Oklahoma
No. 6 TCU
No. 7 Oregon
No. 8 Alabama
No. 9 Georgia
No. 10 Penn State
No. 11 Ohio State
No. 12 Boise State
No. 13 Ole Miss
No. 14 Virginia Tech
No. 15 Texas Tech
No. 16 Oregon State
No. 17 Oklahoma State
No. 18 Missouri
No. 19 Cincinnati
No. 20 Florida State
No. 21 California
No. 22 Tulsa

Final AP poll due Thursday night

January 06, 2009

By Jon Johnson

My final Top 25 rankings to be submitted to the Associated Press will be due right after the BCS Championship Game, so I’ve been thinking hard of how the lineup should be.
I’m likely voting the winner between Florida and Oklahoma as No. 1, followed by Utah at No. 2, with Texas at No. 3 and Southern Cal at No. 4.
I, like I’m sure all of the AP voters this year, have been getting plenty of emails from Utah supporters asking for support for a No. 1 vote for the Utes.
While Utah was impressive, I can’t see moving the Utes into the No. 1 slot no matter what happens on Thursday.
