I was glad to see that Neil Caudle got an opportunity to get in the game at quarterback for Auburn Saturday. The sophomore went 4-of-5 passing for 32 yards. And even though it was against UT-Martin, just showing a little of what he can do in game action is promising. I believes he deserves more looks. It may not happen this year, but I hope he’s given serious consideration next year.
Caudle was a standout in high school, though knee injuries hampered him during his prep career. He appears healthy, and may be the guy who can get the job done under center if Kodi Burns doesn’t improve his overall game.
Caudle has certainly shown the right attitude in staying ready for when the call came.
It came on Saturday, and he got the attention of the coaching staff.
Caudle is now officially listed No. 2 on the depth chart.

Texas Tech obviously is for real and very deserving of the No. 2 slot. As you see, Alabama is still my pick for No. 1. As long as the Tide takes care of business, they should stay right there. Below are my rankings submitted to the Associated Press on Sunday.

For all the suffering Auburn has endured the past month, perhaps Saturday will bring a brighter day when UT-Martin comes to town for homecoming.
However, if somehow Auburn manages to drop this one, then Tommy Tuberville may as well go ahead and start hunting a new job, if he isn’t already.
The Tigers are certainly a beaten up bunch physically, especially on defense, but should still be able to win this one without breaking much of a sweat.
Then again, nothing has come easy for Auburn this year.
Every week is an adventure, isn’t it?

After the crazy finish in the Texas-Texas Tech game, the Top 10 was tougher to put together this week. It wasn’t hard to move Alabama into No. 1, but I wasn’t sure with Penn State and Texas Tech as which should be No. 2. As you see below, I have Penn State in that spot. Like Alabama, the Nittany Lions have taken care of business and I believe deserve the No. 2 slot for now.
1. Alabama
2. Penn State
3. Texas Tech
4. Oklahoma
5. Florida
6. Southern Cal
7. Texas
8. Oklahoma State
9. TCU
10. Utah
11. Boise State
12. Ohio State
13. Missouri
14. Georgia
15. LSU
16. BYU
17. Michigan State
18. Ball State
19. North Carolina
20. West Virginia
21. Georgia Tech
22. California
