Here’s a great event this weekend:
Save-A-Pet will hold an adoptathon at southside Wal-Mart on Saturday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Purina and Wal-Mart are hosting the event. There will be many homeless kittens, puppies, dogs and cats. All pets are qualified for low cost spay/neutering that will be included in the adoption fee. If you don’t have room in your life for another pet, you can also pop into Wal-Mart and buy some supplies for the group or make a donation.

Ready for some possum ice cream?
I just opened my e-mail discovered that the 39th annual possum festival is this weekend.
Here’s what’s the e-mail says:
The weekend features a 5k run, parade, baking contest, quilt auction and car show, as well as live entertainment all day. The highlight is the Possum Auction and with political season in full swing, a large turnout is expected.
The Possum Festival remains a totally free heritage event in this part of Northwest Florida and highlights the history and culture of the area.
There’s way too many events to list, so visit Wausau Possum Festival to read everything.

As you may have read earlier this month, the Houston-Love Memorial Library is raising funds for a new building. Didn’t read it? Well, go to this link: Donations for new library are coming in .
Well, to help out, Vino Vino is hosting a benefit for the library on Monday, from 5:30-7:30. p.m. The shop will have a variety of red and white wines to sample. It’s $20 for a glass, but fear not, all of the money will go toward the library building fund.
I’ve been to Vino Vino and it is a neat place. The shop has tons of wine and lots of cute gifts. Make sure you snag a truffle if you go. They are divine.
What: Wine tasting fundraiser for library
When: Monday, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Where: Vino Vino, 2620 Montgomery Highway (next to River Nile Bistro, diagonal from Circuit City/PetSmart shopping center)
Cost: $20
Info: Call 794-2002.
OR if you’d rather just send a check to the library to support the new building, here’s that info:
Make checks made payable to the Houston-Love Memorial Library, P.O. Box 1369, Dothan, AL 36302. Designate for the building fund. Building accounts are set up at Compass, Mid-South, and Wachovia banks.
See plans at Dothan’s new library.
