Midland City man found not guilty of robbery

September 12, 2008

By Ebony Horton

from staff reports

A Dale County jury found a Midland City man not guilty of robbing a city mart last year.
Thirty-nine-year-old Gregory Branch was found not guilty after authorities said he aided two Newton teens, Jeremy Magwood and Eddie Horn, both 19, in robbing a man at Trans Food Mart for $200.
Magwood, who court records indicated pleaded guilty and received three years’ probation, testified against Branch.
Prosecutors said they believed jurors knew Branch was involved in the robbery but they could not determine his involvement.
Defense attorney Bill Kominos, who said he was able to disclose how Branch’s light sentence might have been due to him agreeing to testify, said he believed “justice prevailed.”
