There were no injuries in a car fire that took place on U.S. Highway 231 near the bridge in Newton, according to scanner dispatch.
It appeared that, for whatever reason, the car caught fire along the highway. Traffic was backed up as agencies including state troopers and Dale County Sheriff’s Department officials worked to get traffic flowing again.
A Dale County official could not be reached for comment.
