Ford held on no bond

A former Ozark officer in being held in Houston County Jail under no bond.
Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey said Chris Ford, 33, remained in the jail.
Warrants were issued for Ford’s arrest earlier this month after police said he broke into his mother-in-law’s Ozark residence and assaulted his ex-wife Hillary.
Authorities said Ford was later involved in a multi-hour standoff in Dothan and then transported to Southeast Alabama Medical Center for Tylenol overdose and a self-inflicted knife wound.

Charges could come after fatal wreck

Authorities are reviewing reports to determine whether alcohol was involved in a fatal wreck in Dale County.
The Alabama State Troopers said Angela Krystal Piasecki, 24, of Dothan was killed in the accident on County Road 20, near Newton, this weekend.

Piasecki was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Adam Matthew Brockett, 26, of Ozark. Brockett was injured in the accident and taken to a local hospital.

Dale County Coroner Woody Hilboldt said Piasecki was killed after the truck left the road at a high rate of speed. Piasecki was pronounced dead around 5:20 a.m.

Ozark sales taxes $600 more than expected last year

The sales tax numbers from last year show Ozark is ahead by $653. City clerk Billy Blackwell said total sales tax in the city was $6,,333,653. The city had budgeted for $6,333,000.

Ozark arrest

Ozark Police charged the following with felony crimes between Friday, Oct. 10, and Tuesday, Oct. 14. None of them have been convicted:

Stephanie Bixby, 25, of Private Road 1709 in Enterprise, burglary in the first degree and theft of property in the first degree.
