From former Sheriff Mixon on Alaska trip

By Ebony Horton

“Severe storms shut us down in Red Deer , Canada…RD is just past Smashed-in-head and Buffalo jump..good old south ala names eh!  Left Great Falls early this am and immediate trouble. for my Harley friend Doug from Fla.  The Little trailer he was pulling decided to come apart and we had to return to GF and get him a big bag for his bike and dispose of the trailer.  We crossed into Canada w/o incident and proceeded to Calgary and fought high winds for three hours.  Northern Montana and southern Canada are mostly rolling hills mixed with vast stretches of beautiful green grazing land.  The rivers are clear and a pleasure to see.  The guy sharing the rm with me tonite is from Colo. and use to be a pilot @ Ft. Rucker!  How about that for coincidence.  Also, Doug from
Fla. stopped in Ozk to get a tire fixed…look out, we are going to be kin to somebody on this trip yet.  Exhausted, but having fun!  ON TO ALASKA!!!“

From Dale County Sheriff’s Office

July 07, 2009

By Ebony Horton

“Archie Ardell Wallace, 65 of Ozark was arrested on July 6 at his home on Sharon Lane.

Wallace was arrested on charges of rape in the first degree and two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree.  The alleged victim was a 13 year old female at the time of the alleged assault.

The crime was committed in 2005; however, the investigating police agency did not follow up on the investigation.  The Dale County Department of Human Resources brought the case to the attention of the Dale County Sheriff’s Office.

Realizing that the case had not been investigated, the investigators with the Dale County Sheriff’s Office opened its own investigation into the crime.

After finding there was sufficient evidence to charge Wallace with both rape and on two counts of sexual abuse, the Dale County District Attorney’s Office issued warrants for the arrest of Wallace.

Wallace was booked into the Dale County Jail and bonded out the following day on a $20,000 bond.

While nearly four years have spanned since the crime was committed, the Dale County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to investigating all crimes against our children and seeking justice where other agencies have failed to fully investigate the crime.

If anyone has information pertaining to this case, they are advised to contact Chief Investigator Harvey Mathis at 774-2335.“
