Daleville man gets marijuana mailed to residence

In today’s economy, it appears even some alleged criminals are cutting back on travel.
A bale package of 24.9 pounds of marijuana was shipped to Mexico-native Ricardo Gamez’ Daleville residence for the purpose of selling drugs on Saturday, according to Ozark Police Department.
Ozark Police Chief Tony Spivey said the origin of the package was not released because of an ongoing investigation but that a Dothan Police Canine Unit detected marijuana in the package after suspicions from a package delivery service.
Gamez’ trafficking charge after receiving the marijuana has not been unusual lately. Last month, three Dothan residents and at least one Geneva County resident were charged after authorities tracked marijuana being sent to local addresses.
“In year’s past you would hear about this going on, but it died off. That trend seems to be coming back for whatever reason,” Spivey said.
Spivey said Gamez, 23, would likely remain in jail until he was released to immigration enforcement.
