He’s not the kind of hunter you might have in mind. His bounty typically isn’t monetary, either.
But his reward over the last year or so has been the satisfaction of knowing alleged offenders in Dale County are behind bars.
Dale County Chief Sheriff’s Investigator Harvey Mathis recently charged three - including a 57-year-old woman - with sexual violations.
Martha Davis, 57, of Enterprise was charged for failing to register as a sex offender for convicted charges of sodomy and abduction in Commonwealth of Virginia in 1972, according to Mathis.
Davis is believed to have information regarding another Dale County case, Mathis said. She was placed in Dale County Jail on $10,000 bond.
Timothy James O’Connor, 29, of Daleville was charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a 6-year-old girl and placed in the Dale County Jail under $60,000 bond, according to Mathis.
Another man, Aaron Matthew Ribaric, 23, of Ozark was arrested in Pell City on Dale County Sheriff’s Office outstanding warrants for theft of property in the second degree and failing to register as a sex offender.
After an investigation, Mathis said authorities discovered Ribaric was arrested for statutory sexual assault in Pennsylvania in 2006.
Ribaric was placed in the Dale County Jail under no bond.
Mathis said each of the cases involved days of work and the help of other agencies.
“When these cases come to us, we work them, and we have to make sure the people of this county are safe,” Mathis said.
