Tickets for the 2010 BamaJam Music Festival went on sale today, and organizers hope next year’s festival will top the last two.

“We want to have a diverse lineup from country to alternative,” said Joe Gomez, who oversees BamaJam for Ronnie Gilley Entertainment. “We want to kind of separate ourselves from other country music festivals.”

Country star Kenny Chesney will headline the 2010 festival planned for June 3-5 in Enterprise. A four-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, Chesney is known for a slate of hits — “Out Last Night,” “When the Sun Goes Down,” “Beer in Mexico,” “Living in Fast Forward,” “Never Wanted Nothing More” and “The Good Stuff.”

With no plans to tour in 2010, BamaJam will be counted among the few festivals Chesney is scheduled to play next year.

The early-bird general admission tickets are $99 for all three days and $49 for a one-day flex ticket, which can be used on any one of the three days during the music festival. This will be the second year the festival has been sponsored by Verizon. According to organizers, there are limited tickets at these prices. As the festival nears, ticket prices will go up.

Other performers scheduled so far include Blackberry Smoke, Jake Owen and local group Houston County.

Gomez said organizers have tried to improve upon the festival each year. Held on 600 acres at the intersection of Highway 167 and Boy Scout Road in Enterprise, the festival has featured an array of performers, including Kid Rock, Hank Williams Jr., Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Los Lonely Boys and The Black Crowes.

Some of the changes for 2010 include a par-3 golf course, which Gomez said is being billed as “no shoes and shirts required” — well, for men anyway. The main stage will also be moved back a couple hundred feet to allow more room for the audience, Gomez said. The alternative stage will return as will the BamaJam Saloon stage.

With two successful festivals under their belts, organizers face more of a challenge to top themselves with the artists scheduled to play, Gomez said.

“I think we did with Kenny Chesney,” he said.
