Community lunch provides free Christmas meals
Published: November 7, 2009
The sixth annual Community Christmas Luncheon will be held on Dec. 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Club Primetime, located at 230 E. Powell St., in downtown Dothan.
The luncheon is free and fed more than 600 people last year. The nonprofit event also donated portable heaters to senior citizens throughout the Wiregrass area to help them stay warm during the winter. Organizers are seeking support in the way of donations of used operable heaters or sponsorships by businesses to cover the cost of heaters. Donations of canned goods, paper plates, drinks, corn, green beans, rice, dressing mix and desserts are also sought.
Any company that would like to sponsor portable heaters and place a company logo on the heaters, can contact Laura McDonald at the Southside Wal-Mart Supercenter at 702-1310. Used heaters can be dropped off at the Catalpa Grocery store at 507 Catalpa Ave. in Dothan or call 446-0658.
