Diabetes workshop planned

The sixth annual Diabetes Prevention and Wellness Workshop will be held Thursday, Oct. 23, from 7:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Dothan Civic Center.
The event is free to the public and will feature diabetes educators, vendors, demonstrations, an “ask the expert” discussion, lower extremities assessments and cooking demonstrations. Free breakfast and lunch will be served on a first come, first serve basis.
Continuing education units are available to medical professionals at $20 for four CEUs. For more information call Dothan Leisure Services 615-3700.

This is an event that’s just perfect for diabetes. Imagine having all those demonstrations and ask an expert segment. And free breakfast and lunch to boot. Great, who can resist that? Everyone should attend for they’ll learn a lot from this gathering.

Thank you for revealing us the truth no matter how much it hurts. Sometimes we’re just in denial and refuse to face the music but with you reporting on this and telling us how an assassin diabetes really is may just wake all of us up. Imagine those 60,000 in the South West are not aware they have the condition only perhaps to learn they have it after starting to get the complications. That certainly is heart-breaking.
