Featured Players Theatre, 137 N. St. Andrews St., Dothan, will hold Open Mic Night on Friday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m., followed by Rick Craven at 9 p.m. Admission is $6.

THEATER
“Grits on the Side” will be performing in the banquet hall of the Cultural Arts Center at 909 S. St. Andrews St. in Dothan Oct. 9-10. The locally-created theatrical spoof of the South is in its 19th year. Doors open at 6 p.m.; dinner served at 6:30 p.m.; and show begins at 7:30 p.m. Cash bar available. The Headland Chamber of Commerce’s 38th annual Harvest Day Festival will be Saturday, Oct. 10, from 8:30 a.m-5 p.m. around the town square. There will be games, moonwalks, pony and train rides, a wall climb, bungee jump and more. Call 693-3303.

ART
“Sessions,” an exhibit of work created by children and adult classes and groups, at The Dowling Museum and Ann Rudd Art Center on the square in downtown Ozark. The exhibit will hang from Oct. 10-31. An opening reception will be Saturday, Oct. 10, from 6-8 p.m. A reception for the children’s show is Oct. 10 from 1-3 p.m.

The Scarecrows in the Garden trail will have a grand opening reception on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 2-4 p.m. at the Dothan Area Botanical Gardens on Headland Avenue. Forty-five scarecrows are on display, and visitors will be able to vote for their favorite to determine the “People’s Choice” scarecrow. Light refreshments served. Free admission.

MOVIES
The library at Troy University Dothan Campus will host a year-long International Film Series. Films will be shown on the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. inside Sony Hall. “Somers Town,” a comedy from the United Kingdom directed by Shane Meadows, will be shown on Oct. 13; and “For My Father,” a thriller from Israeli director Dror Zahavi, will be shown on Nov. 10. Contemporary blues singer Robin Rogers will be at the Basketcase Cafe, 228 S. Oates St., in Dothan on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Wiregrass Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Landmark Park from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Park staff and volunteers will harvest peanuts using mules and vintage farm equipment. Exhibitors from across the Southeast will display restored antique tractors, engines and farm equipment. Other activities include the annual antique tractor pull, cane grinding and syrup making, blacksmithing, corn shelling, woodworking and more. A juried quilt show of over 100 quilts will hang in the Stokes Activity Barn. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens, $4 for kids, and free for members and children 3 and under. The Eufaula Pilgrimage will host its fourth annual Christmas Tour of Homes on Saturday, Dec. 5, beginning with a seated luncheon of traditional southern food at 11 a.m. at Shorter Mansion. Luncheon is $25 per person; limited seating and reservations required. From 1-4:30 p.m., four modern homes will be open to the public.
