Landmark Park in Dothan open for field trips

Landmark Park is taking reservations for field trips for the 2009-2010 school year. Each year, the park is the destination for thousands of students in grades k-12 in public, private and home schools.

Seasonal sessions, including Cane Grinding Day and Christmas Past, are filling up fast. Cane Grinding Day is Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include peanut picking, syrup making and other traditional fall farm activities.
Other field trip choices include history programs, nature programs and more. Teachers are also encouraged to use the park as their own outdoor classrooms with a self-led tour of the boardwalk and nature trails. The park’s gift shop, Shelley General Store and Martin Drugstore are open during field trips, and The Barnyard playground is also open to school groups.
Landmark Park, home of the Alabama Agricultural Museum, is a 100-acre historical and natural science park located on U.S. Highway 431 North in Dothan, Ala. For more information or to register your class, call 794-3452.
