“Confessions of a Collection” opens at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan on Saturday, July 4, in the museum’s main gallery. The light-hearted exhibit uses mainstream media concepts to explore the true stories behind the works in museum’s art collections. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free admission. MUSIC
Musicians Fred Hardwick, Brian McDonald and Mary Hannah Hardwick will perform Saturday, July 4, at 10 a.m. in Millennium Park on the grounds of the Wiregrass Museum of Art in downtown Dothan. The free entertainment is in conjunction with the Poplar Head Farmers Market, open from 8 a.m.-noon. Other activities include a “Tastiest Watermelon Contest” with customers picking a winner from among the local farmers.

Landmark Park will host an “Animal Tales” story time for preschool age children on Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. in the park’s Interpretive Center. “Bobo,” the story of a baby blue jay, will be told by storyteller Susan Brolund. Free with paid admission to the park — $4 for adults, $3 for children 4-15, free for members and children 3 and under. Reservations required, plus a 50-percent deposit for groups of 15 or more. Pop vocalist Larry Andrews will perform on Thursday, July 9, at 7:30 p.m. at Landmark Park as part of the Music by Moonlight summer concert series sponsored by Landmark Park and Music South. Andrews is a former featured singer of Norwegian Cruise Lines, Disney World and Busch Gardens. Concerts are held in the park’s gazebo. Bring a blanket, lawn chairs and picnic supper. Free admission. “Who’s on First” will be performed at Opus Nostrum Dinner Theatre, 115 W. Church St., Headland, on Fridays and Saturdays from July 10-25. A Save the Dogs concert will be held July 10 at 7 p.m. at the Ozark Civic Center featuring T. Graham Brown and others. Proceeds benefit Wiregrass animal rescue groups. Tickets are $15 at the door; $12 in advance. Bring a picture of your dog and save $2 at the door.

The Animal Adventures program “Butterflies and Moths” will be held on July 10 at 10 a.m. at Landmark Park Interpretive Center. Learn about the lifecycle of butterflies and moths and see live specimens of these insects in every stage of life. The Featured Players Theatre, 137 N. St. Andrews St., in Dothan will be present “Murder Under the Big Top,” a murder-mystery with audience participation. Foster Fest will be Friday, July 10, from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Dothan. The free cruise-in event features street rods, antique cars, muscle cars and more in the parking lot behind the Houston County Courthouse at the corner of East Main and North Foster streets.
