Former Ozark police officer Chris Ford’s standoff with law enforcement officers Thursday was the second time he has holed up in a residence, requiring police to remove him.

A Rehobeth couple have been charged with filing a false report involving a Dothan police officer. According to information from Dothan police, Devin Michael Little, 22, and his wife, Alissa Gray Little, 25 of Rehobeth, are charged with two counts each of false reporting to law enforcement authorities.

Dothan police officer demoted

A veteran Dothan police officer who was recently demoted could lose the opportunity to contest the demotion with the city because of a deployment to Iraq. Attorney John White said his client, Brad E. Baum Jr., was demoted last week from sergeant to corporal. White said as part of the demotion, Baum was ordered to take a day off work without pay, which he did Thursday.

Dothan man pleads guilty to rape of teenage girl

The presentation of evidence stopped early during a sexual assault trial this week after a Dothan man pleaded guilty to rape of a teenage girl. Emanuel Walker Jr., 29, of South Grant Street, was originally charged with first-degree forcible rape, but he pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree rape.

Dothan man convicted as getaway driver in two armed robberies

A Dothan man faces a possible life sentence in prison after a jury convicted him of being the getaway driver in two armed robberies. Daniel Paul Moore II, 31, of East Lafayette Street, was found guilty Thursday of two felony counts of first-degree robbery. Both his brothers were also charged in the what prosecutors have called “home invasion” robberies.

He died from injuries he suffered from a gunshot wound to the leg during a robbery at the Champagne Lounge in August 2006. The conclusion of a four-day trial Thursday still left Adrian Belser saddened about his son’s death.

District Attorney Doug Valeska told a jury Monday that an eyewitness will testify he saw 22-year-old Adam McKinnis walk into a Dothan nightclub and open fire with a handgun during a robbery, killing another man during the barrage of bullets.
