Man gets 42 years for Christmas Eve murder of his wife
About six weeks before a 40-year-old Ozark woman was stabbed to death, she filed a restraining order against the man convicted of killing her.
Ozark police Investigator J.C. Culbreath read the restraining order out loud Thursday at a Dale County Circuit Court hearing, which included Allison Johnson saying she had been afraid of her husband in the weeks before her death.
Clio man charged with armed robbery
Barbour County Sheriff’s Investigator Sgt. David Morris arrested Daniel Darrel Kennedy Jr., 23, of Clio, on Tuesday and charged him with first-degree robbery, according to an e-mailed statement from Morris.
Judge denies probation for sex offender convicted of failure to register
Judge Butch Binford denied probation on Wednesday for Charles Edwin Gibson, 42, of Langley Drive, who had been convicted of failure to register as a sex offender.

Dothan man denied probation in terrorist threat case
A Houston County Circuit Court judge denied probation Wednesday for a Dothan man recently convicted of threatening to kill a Dothan police investigator. Judge Butch Binford denied probation for Anthony Terrell Brooks, 28, of South Lena Street, who pleaded guilty to the charge last month.
Capital murder defendant hearing postponed
A Dothan man charged with capital murder in a 2007 shooting death will remain held without bond after a Houston County Circuit Court judge continued his case until November. Brandon Bell, 26, of East Newton Street, had a hearing set Wednesday for general motions, including a bond hearing. The hearing was continued until Nov. 19.
Kindergartener brings drugs to school in Ozark
Yamisha Gray, 30, and Antonio Griffin, 39, both of Hazelwood Drive, were charged after school officials reported the child pulled out a small bag of marijuana at Thompkins Early Childhood Center on Monday.
68-year-old woman gets probation in drug case
A Houston County circuit court judge gave a 68-year-old Georgia woman probation Wednesday for her five felony drug convictions.
Betty Haire, of Brinson, Ga., pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, to five counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
