Enterprise woman charged with stealing from Coffee County Jail
Authorities arrested an Enterprise woman on Thursday after a grand jury returned an indictment charging her with the theft of nearly $40,000 while she worked at the Coffee County Jail.
Debra Mitchell Williams, 46, of Shellfield Road, was arrested after she turned herself in with her lawyer, Lee Knowles of Geneva, said Coffee County District Attorney Gary McAliley. She was released after she posted a $30,000 bond.
“It was a continuous theft over time,” McAliley said.
Two City of Dothan employees arrested on marijuana charges
Dothan police arrested two Dothan garbage collectors on Wednesday after seizing marijuana from a city “refuse” truck.
Police investigators arrested Kendrick Lamar Corbitt, 34, of Dutch Street, and Bruce Henry Iverson, 40, of Grant Street, and charged them each with misdemeanor second-degree possession of marijuana. Both men were released from the Dothan City Jail after they posted a $500 bond each.
Dothan bank burglarized over night
Dothan police responded to a burglary at a Compass Bank in Dothan Thursday morning, Police Chief John Powell said.
Powell said someone burglarized the bank, located at 1263 W. Main St., before it opened for business Thursday.
Large pot growing operation busted
Late Wednesday, the Jackson County, Fla., Drug Task Force dismantled a sophisticated hydroponic marijuana greenhouse being operated in a barn outside the residence of a Malone-area man.
Eulatio Santiago, 29, was charged with the cultivation of marijuana in the case and with other offenses unrelated to the grow operation.

Eufaula man charged with rape of teenage girl, faces dozens more charges
A Eufaula man confessed to Barbour County authorities that he recently sexually assaulted a teenage girl, and he could face dozens more additional rape charges, said Barbour County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Eddie Ingram.
Investigators arrested 42-year-old Joseph Thompson on Wednesday and charged him with first-degree rape. He is being held in the Barbour County Jail without bond. Ingram and Deputy Virgil Bowen investigated the assault and arrested Thompson after it was reported to the department on Friday.
Dothan man facing sex abuse charges
A Dothan man has been charged with three counts of sexual abuse involving a female under the age of 12.
According to information from Dothan police, Christopher Dewayne Carroll, 28, of Fortner Street, is charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse following an investigation into alleged inappropriate sexual contact with a female.
Man charged with threatening to kill cop to remain behind bars
A circuit court judge denied bond Wednesday for a Dothan man charged with making a “very credible threat against” the life of a Dothan police officer.

Headland man charged with shooting gun in cultural arts center parking lot
Dothan police charged a Headland man with shooting a handgun in the parking lot Friday night at the Southeast Alabama Community Theater located at the Dothan Cultural Arts Center near downtown.
Police charged Thyshun Hollis, 21, with felony dishcharging a firearm and misdemeanor carrying a pistol without a permit, according to a Dothan City Jail report. Police also charged 21-year-old Djkarta Trayon Condry, also of Headland, with misdemeanor carrying a pistol without a permit.

A man wearing no shirt and shoes approached a Cottonwood businessman returning to his car and stole his wallet after asking him for money to buy gasoline. The businessman, who Smith declined to name, told the other man he didn’t have any cash, and in return the man “snatched” his wallet.

A bond hearing for a Dothan man facing receiving stolen property charges turned into a capital murder hearing Wednesday after Houston County Sheriff’s investigator Bill Rafferty said there was enough probable cause to charge David Waller with capital murder.

Woman not guilty of threatening Cottonwood School
A jury found a Cottonwood woman not guilty of a felony charge Tuesday, but a Houston County Circuit Court judge said he feels she should have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime.
