Authorities seek info on Abbeville church theft

Abbeville authorities are looking for information on a $40,000 theft from an area church. Police Chief Mike Jones said five heat pumps were reportedly stolen from the St. Peter Missionary Church on Girard Street last week.
Jones said each heat pump was reportedly worth an estimated $8,000. Jones said the heat pumps, taken outside the rear of the building, were likely stolen for the copper inside them. Jones said Henry County Crime Stoppers will offer up to a $1,000 reward, and the Henry County District Attorney’s Office has also offered a $1,000 award.
