Convicted sex offender faces new felony charge

Dothan police recently arrested a Dothan man and charged him with failure to properly register as a convicted sex offender.

According to Dothan City Jail records, police arrested Kenneth Jermaine Whigham, 33, of Chevrolet Street, and charged him with a violation of the community notification act.

Dothan Police Officer Thomas Davis said police charged Whigham because he failed to notify police of his change in employment. Court records show police charged Whigham for failure to notify authorities he’d changed his employment to ATL Barber Salon.

According to the state Department of Public Safety’s Web site, Whigham was convicted in 1994 of felony second-degree sodomy on a 15-year-old girl in Dale County.

All joking aside bottom line yes he messed up, but it took several years and he just forgot, or maybe not, to update the paperwork. He did not go out and hurt another person. I am more worried about the murderers and the violent felons that I dont know about living in our neighborhoods and trailer parks. These are the people that have the highest reoffending rate. These sexual offenders except for those disgusting few actually have a very low reoffending rate, which makes wonder why dont murderers have to register? Or do they? I dont think so. Also many Sexual offenders did alot less then the stigma attached to the title but they will have to live with that. I just question a society that treats a murder better than a 18 who slept with his 15 year old girlfriend (yes its still wrong and should be punished, but not for life)

Some people are just ignorant and you are proving it. A repeat offender is one who commits the act again. Yes he broke the law but that is not a repeat offense. It is a seperate and different crime. People like you cause misinformation, hate, and ignorance. But go ahead and brush your tooth and go to sleep in your trailer.

OK people lets get it right. The guy got in trouble because he did not go in a change his place of EMPLOYMENT on his registration. He did not re-offend. it looks like he was an 18 year old back in 94 and got caught with a 15 year old, he broke the law and was punished but dont make it sound like he committed another sex offense because he did not he FAILED TO PROPERLY REGISTER when he DID NOT CHANGE HIS EMPLOYMENT on his registration. Its hysteria like this that takes focus off of murderers and violent felons and nit picks at everything these people do. Get your facts straight.
