Cottonwood man faces child porn charges
Authorities have arrested a Cottonwood man on nearly two dozen child porn related charges.
State Trooper Kevin Cook, a public information officer for the Alabama Department of Public Safety, said agents with the Alabama Bureau of Investigation arrested Michael Timothy Benefield, and charged him with 11 felony counts of production of child pornography, 11 felony counts of possession of child pornography, felony first-degree possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cook said ABI agents with the state’s Internet crimes against children unit, along with agents from the Dothan ABI office, arrested Benefield.
Benefield, 46, of McCoy Road, was released from custody after he posted a $152,500 bond.
