Two Cottonwood men were arrested Friday and charged with possessing cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute, after leading officers on a chase through Jacob, Fla., as authorities sought another suspect wanted for selling drugs.

The Jackson County Drug Task Force in Marianna arrested Chase Jarrord Brown, 24, and Marquez Antonio Wynn, 20, both of Dyras Road in Cottonwood, after the two men picked up Norris Kelvin Wynn on Magnolia Road in Jacob and fled the scene.

Authorities were seeking Norris Wynn on an outstanding warrant for sale of a controlled substance.

The suspects, driving a 2001 Chevy Tahoe, drove about two miles, turning west on Highway 62, and south on Woodrest Road, when Norris Wynn jumped from the vehicle and ran into a wooded area.

As Brown continued driving the SUV, officers reported that Marquez Wynn threw something out the window. Deputies recovered approximately one pound of marijuana and six grams of powder cocaine, individually wrapped for sale.

The pursuit ended at the intersection of Peanut and Eldridge roads, where the suspects were arrested without incident.
Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol, Appalachee Correctional Institution and the Jackson Correctional Institution’s K-9 teams aided in the search for Norris Wynn. After searching for several hours, authorities determined Norris Wynn got into another vehicle and fled the area.

Brown and Marquez Wynn were both charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Brown was also charged with fleeing with attempt to elude and reckless driving.

Both were being held in the Jackson County Jail in Marianna.

Officers are still searching for Norris Wynn, who faces charges of possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and resisting an officer.
Assistance was also provided by the Cottondale and Graceville, Fla., police departments, the Florida Highway Patrol Contraband Interdiction Unit, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
