Cottonwood woman walking dog struck by pickup truck

A Cottonwood woman was seriously injured after a pickup truck struck her Friday as she walked her dog.

Officer James Andrews said Jane Bass, 47, was struck in the 3400 block of Fletcher Smith Road near Metcalf Road around 6:20 p.m. Andrews said Bass was later taken Saturday to UAB Hospital where he said she was in critical condition.

A statement from the Cottonwood Police Department said Bass was struck by vehicle driven by Patrick Wells, 31, of Cottonwood. Andrews said there did not appear to be any foul play involved in the accident. Alabama State troopers assisted and the Cottonwood Fire Department assisted during the accident investigation.
