Dont blame the dothan cops for the information and the pictures that a published they are just doing their job. There is a reason why people get in trouble for doing drugs…  Someone driving around high on pot or crack or whatyever can easily hurt someonenot to mention a kid.  So in my eyes drug addiction is a crime people should not do thje drug to being with they know it is wsrong before they even start.

“Why would you put more information about this girl than we need.“ - You can thank the Dothan police department for this story; and the pictures…

—Drug addiction an illness, not a crime—

ADDICTION RECOVERY: Difficult topic. Addiction has many faces. The best experts in the USA have grouped it with psychiatric disorders, and they are right, IMHO. Many addicts became what they are through an unlucky combination of “genetic disposition” and “traumatic life events.“ Recurring fears and anxieties are the result, and then the bad thing happens: they discover after having gotten used to regular drinking or ingesting otherwise, that certain substances “make them feel whole again,“ a more complete person, able to feel part of the whole of society, what have you. And the fears disappear. They are, in a sense, sentenced for life. Perhaps medical science can develop a pharmacological cure that may wean them off forever, it’s been done for other illnesses.

Moralizing has no place in this issue. An addict is mostly already a barrel of guilty feelings and shame; and pointing a finger often has the opposite effect: namely that he or she starts using again to get rid of the shame for a couple of hours. Here as elsewhere in the country, some users start early, fall fast and in their reckless prime. And treatment, if they get it at all, can seem like a joke.

If your “treatment program” is measured in a set number of days, your odds are going to suck. The 28 or 30 days programs were designed because insurance companies would PAY for 30 days of treatment [which give you one day of intake and one day for discharge - thus 28 days.] Insurance operates on calendars. Human psyches do not. A person needs three days of recovery just to be able to walk and eat without shaking “like a dog crapping razor blades.“ Addiction can’t be put in the same category as other illnesses, or diseases where there is a more tangible set treatment.

drug addiction may be an illness but this event was correctly put in the media. this girl is my younger sister and for years now our family has tried to get her help and she just snitched on people and got away with murder. i think that now they might be faced with having to actually prosecute her. She is a young mother and has two children one of which is an infant and she is currently pregnant.

i am a drug addict so i understand your views on this but when it comes to children it becomes a bigger problem and she should be dealt with accordingly. thank you.

For added information Ashley is also 6 months pregnant and has a 7 month and 5 year old boys at home. Who knows where those precious babies were at… DHR needs to get involved because those innocent children do not need to be raised by a woman like this…I feel really bad for that baby that is inhaling this crack cocaine…Let’s all pray that nothing is wrong with that innocent baby living inside of her…There are so people out there that want children and can not have any and here this girl is smoking crack with a gift that God gave her…What is this world coming to??

—Drug addiction an illness, not a crime—

Though today’s War on Drugs disproportionately incarcerates the poor, winning the War will take victims from all levels of society. Prominent leaders and celebrities such as George W. Bush, Steve Jobs, Clarence Thomas, Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich, Barack Obama, Paul McCartney, and many more would all become inmates in the newly expanded American prison system.

The vast majority of drug related problems have nothing to do with the actual drug, but instead with how the government treats its Drug War victims. “I’m on probation”, “They suspended my license”, “He’s in jail”, and “I have a criminal record of drug use.” Drugs didn’t cause these problems - politicians, hypocritical voters, and the government did. Americans who vehemently support the War on Drugs, then smoke a joint or two when an old friend from high school comes to town or pop a couple of un-prescribed Vicodin when the stress at work gets a little heavy.
