Dothan man gets 21 years for failure to register as a sex offender
A Houston County Circuit Court Judge sentenced a Dothan man Tuesday to serve 21 years in prison for failure to properly register a sex offender.
Judge Ed Jackson sentenced Stanley Earl Underwood after a jury found him guilty of after jury convicted him in July of a felony violation of the community notification act. Underwood, 30, of South Range Street, was arrested in February 2007.
Shaun McGhee, who represented Underwood Tuesday, said the sentence against his client was enhanced because Underwood was a habitual offender with previous felonies on his criminal history.
Underwood was convicted in 2000 of attempted second-degree rape, according to the state sex offender Web site.

man what a joke this is. He was convicted in 2000. Was releaed sometime before feb 2007 when he was arrested for violating a basically illegal registration law and for violating it! his punishment for failing to send in a piece of paper is 4 TIMES the amount he got for the ORIGINAL CRIME.
