Dothan police catch man wanted for attempted murder
Dothan police arrested a convicted felon on Halloween on charges he tried to kill a woman during a drug-related dispute.
Capt. Steve Parrish, supervisor of the criminal investigation division, said police had been looking for two Dothan men for their involvement in what he referred to as a serious drug related assault at McRae Homes on North Lena Street.
Parrish said officers with the patrol division arrested James Amar Woods, 35, of North Herring Street, Saturday, and charged him with felony attempted murder.
Parrish said Woods and a second man, Ezederick Eady, had both been wanted for several weeks on the attempted murder charge. Police are still looking for Eady.
The two men were charged with pistol whipping and seriously hurting a woman during a drug-related dispute several months ago. Parrish said the woman suffered serious injuries to her face and had some teeth knocked out. She was no longer in the hospital at the time of Woods’ arrest.
Court records show Woods was out on bond for a pending felony cocaine possession charge from earlier this year. He also pleaded guilty to felony possession of cocaine and felony first-degree possession of marijuana in 2004. Court records also show Woods was charged in 1999 with trafficking cocaine, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Both men face at least 10 to 99 years or life in prison if convicted of the class A felony attempted murder.
Anyone with information about the Eady can call the Dothan Police Department at 615-3000.

This is an example of our fine judicial system at its best . Otherwise this man would have been in jail along time ago. Until this country brings back capital punishment , its not going to get any better either.
Ok and the question is: Why is this guy still on the streets? Lock this one for a long time. It is past the time for plea bargin. Now he has upped the ante to violence. Forever. I will be more than happy to foot my section of the tab for this one.
