Dothan woman charged with attempted murder
Dothan police recently arrested a 21-year-old Dothan woman on charges she tried to kill another woman Wednesday night by ramming the other woman with her car at a Dothan apartment complex.
Court records show police investigators charged Heather Renee Gillespie with attempting to kill Lindsey Smith by ramming her car into Smith’s vehicle, striking her as she stood next to it. Records show Gillespie was also charged with felony assault on Christopher Thompson by striking him with a car.
A statement from the Dothan Police Department said the charges stemmed from a police response to a pedestrian struck report around 8:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Laurie Drive at the Rolling Hills Apartment Complex. Police say Gillespie was charged with striking the victim with a car after an argument.
Gillespie was taken to the Houston County Jail and held on a $150,000 bond, which was set by Circuit Court Judge Brad Mendheim.
Gillespie faces 10 to 99 years or life in prison if convicted of the class A felony, attempted murder, and one to 10 years in prison if convicted of the class C felony second-degree assault.
Gillespie was charged in 2007 with misdemeanor writing a worthless check in Dale County, which was later dismissed.

hahaha heather deserves to be in jail better yet prison. she has ruined so many peoples lives an not even cared! so for all you people who think she is innocent an wouldnt do this you are sadly mistaken. this girl is freakin psycho an dont care about anybody but herself. an i plan on visiting her in jail just to laugh in her face!!!!
Stupid is as stupid does.
yes, they were arguing over a man….pretty stupid i think. but hey, jealousy does drive some people crazy.
Could it be that these two girls were fighting over a man? Ummm? I don’t think this is the full story that we are getting. Why would someone just out of the blue try to run over or kill someone?
i have hung out with this girl just about everyday for the past couple months, i never whould have imagined she would go THIS far…..goes to show how much u know sum1! i mean i knew she was a lil nuts but dang! the girl is obviously crazier than i thought! lol
I hope this girl is being put in jail for the right reason. Maybe she wasn’t trying to hit the other girl. It could be that she just can’t drive. I speak from experience…the only two vehicle mishaps that I have been in have been a result of women running into me in broad daylight! And both times I was stopped at an intersection. It was dark so maybe she just couldn’t see!?!?
