Driver charged in brother’s death
An early morning accident in rural Pike County Sunday claimed the life of a 20-year-old Brundidge man and leaves his brother charged with his murder.
Luiz Texcahua was a passenger in a 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Fabian Texcahua, 21, of Brundidge. Luiz was ejected from the vehicle after his older brother lost control and the vehicle began to roll, according to a press release from the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
The single-vehicle accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. about four miles south of Troy on County Road 5520.
An initial investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling over the speed limit when the driver ran off the road and over-corrected as he attempted to bring the vehicle back into the roadway.
Luiz Texcahua was ejected out the passenger side window. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Pike County Coroner Gary Williams.
Fabian Texcahua was charged with murder and placed in the Pike County jailed with a $50,000 bond. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Thanks to everybody that helped me out with the yankee that hates the south. She sure wants to hammer the south, and hammer me too. She should not be allowed to live in the south.
Patriotgyrl, maybe the common denominator in all your problems is you. If you hate the South so much why has it taken so long to leave?
The Klan and other groups are in many states, not just here. And so what if they are? That doesn’t mean you have to hang with ‘em or believe as they do.
I’m curious why the “grand dragon wizard poobah” even gave you a card—I always believed them to be, well, undercover, if you will, in these times. “If I have to see it too much more…“ Huh? What are you seeing?
There’s nothing that can be done with the fire ants, and all the rest of those pesky creatures whose species where here before you and seem to be making your life miserable.
If cost-of-living is the issue there are other places in the country where it is even lower.
What would happen if your house was on fire? You’d run right out the door to safety, no? So pretend the house is a-blazin’ and get your behind out.
I love the South!! Specially Alabama,Mississippi, and Georgia!! I also would love to visit Maine again for some Lobster and Fishing. If this woman does not like it here,,then LEAVE!! Don’t post ugly remarks in here about the nicest, friendliest people on earth!! Go to the North Pole!!! if it will make you happy!! Preferably with out a computer please!!
You say there is no such thing as “yankee’s” and “rebel’s”. (Really, no apostrophe is needed, but I digress.) Yet, you were the first person to start mentioning “Dirty South”, “Good Ol’ Boy”, “Southern Justice” and the term “Yankee”. As far as I remember, this started as a discussion about illegal aliens killing others with their bad driving.
I am sure that “youse guys” (me included) will be ecstatic when you return to whatever educated, cultured part of Vermont from which you came. Some of us would even pitch in to buy you on a one way ticket if you would promise to never lower yourself to coming south of the Mason-Dixon Line again.
You are the one who told us how horrible we all are and how much you hate us. You told us that we are a “laughing stock”, “the bane of the country” and “the shame of our nation”. You are the one ranting about how much you hate an entire portion of our country, the place you have chosen to live for “most of last 31 years” because it is “the cheapest area to live”. Really? We all know that he!! will freeze over before you return north. If you did, you will only continue to gripe and complain about something. You will never be happy because you are a miserable person. Maybe you should look inside for the cause of your misery.
I am sure many others have found the south disagreeable, simply after encountering you. I do not hate our country. (I do not hate you.) I love every part of this great nation. I have lived in much of it and my father devoted his life to serving in our military. I do believe that the South is one of the best places in the world.
Yup, y’all keep on fighting the good fight against all us “yankee’s”. We all know that the Civil War is still going strong here…even though it’s been over for the rest of the country for 143 years.
This is America and here there is no such thing as “yankee’s” and “rebel’s”...only “American’s”...as long as you keep putting yourselves in a seperate category from the rest of America, you will continue to be the bane of the country, the laughing stock, the shame of our nation.
My ancestors fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, AND the Civil War. They fought to keep this ONE NATION WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. American’s don’t fly any other flag other than the Stars and Stripes…and they don’t espouse ignorant and intolerant ideas.
I for one will be glad to get back to the real America, and out of “Dixieland”.
Youse guys can have it.
As a matter of fact, now that it is all said and done, THEY SHOULD HAVE LET THE SOUTH GO AND NOT LOST ONE AMERICAN SOUL TO TRY AND KEEP YOU A PART OF A COUNTRY THAT YOU HATE.
The only difference between a Yankee and a d@mn yankee is that a Yankee comes South for vacation and goes home. A d@mn yankee comes South, stays and gripes and complains about it for the next 40 years.
Well, typically I never read comments on articles or blogs etc and don’t know that i have ever taken the time to comment. But my mom read this article and the comments that go along with it and begged me to read it. After I read it I am slightly confused. Maybe its my “dumb hick” kicking in but, patriot girl .. Although i do not agree with how dixie went about telling you i do agree with the context of it. If you hate it so bad and we are OH SO HORRIBLE go back to where youd be happiest. You say you had no choice because u came here when you were 12 but b4 that you said you had to move back in order to take care of ill relative (which is most definetly admirable) and so your daughter could know them .. so that means you came back AS AN ADULT knowing how “terrible” we are. Dont sit on your butt and complain on the internet on how bad it is.
As far as the law enforcement in ozark I have never had an issue with ANY law enforcement I do drive like a bat out of you know where .. I have been pulled over several times i have had a couple of tickets but they have ALWAYS treated me with respected and several times gave me a chance with a warning. If i received a citation EVERY time i got pulled over I deserved it. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement firefighters etc. I am not appreciated for everything i do at my job but so what? its a job just be thankful you have one! It doesnt matter the profession everyone deserves respect. so what if i am thankful for a respectful cop? i am thankful when i get good service at mcdonalds and that is rare!! I am sure there is plenty more i could put in here but i think ive said enough
FYI the “good ol boy” network is EVERYWHERE and i do love the south!
Hey there dixieoutlawdrunkendriver…how’s it going.
Just so you know, I was 12 years old when we moved here, so NO I DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE SOUTH WAS WHEN I MOVED HERE. I had no choice in the matter.
I guess we don’t have to guess what your local affiliations are as you seem to glorify the disgusting and horrible events of the 60’s and 70’s(before and since as well)perpetrated against the people of Color here in the “Dirty South”. You are probably one of those lovely creatures I went to high school with…such nice representatives of this area they were.
As far as going back where I came from…well you can bet your fat drunken behind that as soon as I can get away from giterdone rednecks like you…I WILL.
GLAD TO KNOW YOU THINK IT IS OKAY TO USE VIOLENCE TO KEEP A WHOLE RACE OF PEOPLE “IN THEIR PLACE”. GLAD TO KNOW THAT MY INSTINCTS ABOUT THIS PLACE ARE CORRECT…more hypocrite’s live here than any other place on the planet.
I bet you go to church every Sunday to, doncha?
You sir, are an idiot and a racist and a bigot.
People like you should not be allowed to procreate.
Patriot northerner, Why dont you get out of here, and go BACK to where you come from? I was not going to comment but the more I read comments and some trying to apologize to you, makes me sick! Just like obummy, apologizing and there is no reason for an apology to you. You KNEW what the south was when you moved here. Leave!!!! You better be glad it is not like it was back in the day when them northerners from N.Y. came down to Ms. wanting to CHANGE everything. They got CHANGE alright. You yankees need to quit coming down here and then start complaining. Stay the heck in the NOrth. This is not the NORTH. Woman, YOU ARE IN ALABAMA, the best State in the United States, with Ga., and Ms. running a close 2nd and 3rd. Go Home!
That’s so weird!! I lived in Washington State for about two and a half years!! down in Vancouver WA…right across the river from Portland Oregon…it was awesome out there. But I had elderly sick relatives here and had to come back to take care of them and so my daughter could know them, so….I am originally from Vermont, so that area reminded me alot of home…with MUCH BIGGER MOUNTAINS. I do know what you mean about the people out there…they are a little harder to get to know, but that is the nature of that part of the country…it was settled by folks who really REALLY wanted to get away from it all, so-to-speak…they make a habit of minding their own business. They’ll be polite and all, but friendly definitely takes a little longer to get through…lol. Vermonters are a little friendlier…of course there are very few Vermonters left in Vermont because of the ridiculous cost of living(HOWARD DEAN IS NOT A VERMONTER…REAL VERMONTERS CANT STAND HIM…I KNOW I CAN’T). It’s really sad. I miss my home, not the people, not the stupid politics…I miss my land and my lake and my mountains…the smell of that black dirt in the spring right before you plant those first seeds…My family goes back to the Mohawk Indians that first lived there, so you can see, that dirt is part of my DNA. Sometimes I wanna go home so badly, if only for a moment, I sit here and cry. Kinda stupid I know, but…Just run of the mill homesickness I guess. And I know I can’t afford to live there…I’d have to live in a tent for crying out loud…but man, that tent sure looks good at times…lol!!!
I have some real good friends here, folks I will miss when I leave here, and I have several relative buried here so I will always have a tie to the South. But I doubt once I leave the next time that I will be back…I know all I need to know about “southern hospitality”!
