Henry County murder suspect’s case dropped

A judge dismissed the murder charge filed against a Eufaula man earlier this week after a key witness in the slaying recently died.

Henry County District Attorney Doug Valeska said Judge Butch Binford issued the order at the request of his office because of the witness problem. Court records show authorities arrested 37-year-old Charles Clapp of Lumpkin Drive, and charged him in May 2004 with murder.

Clapp was later released from custody after he posted a $100,000 bond in January 2006.

Clapp “hit the lottery” and the victim’s family got run over by a truck. Sad turn of events.
