Man sentenced for car crash

A Houston County judge sentenced a Malvern man to serve 35 years in prison Wednesday after a jury found him guilty in an alcohol-related crash that left a woman seriously injured.
Assistant Houston County District Attorney Banks Smith said a jury convicted Terry Killingsworth, 35, of felony first-degree assault. Judge Brad Mendheim sentenced Killingsworth to what Smith said was an enhanced sentence because of Killingsworth’s previous felony criminal history.
Smith said evidence in the case showed Killingsworth had a .157 blood alcohol content nearly three hours after the crash. The crash happened in Dothan at the intersection of West Newton Street and North Park Avenue on Jan. 22.
Smith said Desiree Henderson, 21, suffered serious injuries from the crash. He said she had reconstructive surgery on her jaw, which was broken in four places.
The crash happened as Henderson was on her way to work at a Dothan hospital and Killingsworth, who was driving a Mustang, ran a stop sign at the intersection.
