School board to vote Monday whether to terminate Sewell
The Dothan City School Board will meet Monday to consider a recommendation to fire Dothan High School Principal Andrew Sewell.
Dothan City School Superintendent Sam Nichols said the recommendation will be made in an open meeting of the board and copies of the recommendation will be made available to the media.
Sewell, 41, was arrested Feb. 26 and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The complaint against Sewell alleges he had sex with a female student between Jan. 2 and Jan. 28. The complaint did not specify where the act allegedly took place.
If convicted, Sewell faces up to a year in jail and up to a $500 fine. The court also has the option to suspend any sentence handed down or give probation.
Sewell was hired as Dothan High’s principal in 2007 on a probationary contract which runs out in June.
Sewell came to Dothan from Homewood High School.
