Three Dothan men jailed in connection to store robbery
Three Dothan men are behind bars after Houston County Sheriff’s deputies caught them within 30 minutes of a reported armed robbery at a convenience store in Lovetown on Tuesday evening.
Capt. Antonio Gonzalez called Tyre De’Wan Durry, 21, of East Selma Street, the alleged gunman in the robbery at the One Stop Food Store on Cottonwood Road. Deputies charged Durry, along with Jarvis Lamont Turner and Dewayne Howard Evans Jr., with a single count of felony first-degree robbery.
All three men are being held in the Houston County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
Gonzalez said deputies caught Durry after a chase on foot through some woods near Harvest Street. The other two men were caught after deputies spotted them in a white car that matched the description from witnesses.
Two men, including one armed with a gun, reportedly entered the store and attempted to rob the store around 5:45 p.m. Gonzalez said nothing was reported stolen. He said a third person waited outside the store in a vehicle.
Durry wore a “World’s Greatest Dad” T-shirt at the time of his arrest in woods near the store.
No shots were fired during the robbery, and no injuries were reported. Gonzalez said deputies have not found the gun reportedly used in the robbery.
Gonzalez said none of the men have jobs. It’s unclear why the men committed the robbery.
“Robberies are going to be an opportunity to get something for nothing,” Gonzalez said.
