A Wicksburg man accused of sexually abusing a teenager almost four years ago is expected to appear in a Dale County courtroom this week, according to court records.

Ricky Ganous, 56, was charged with sexual abuse in the first degree on Feb. 3.

According to a statement from the Dale County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged sexual abuse was reported to police and the Department of Human Resources in March 2005, but the case was not addressed.

Dale County Chief Sheriff’s Investigator Harvey Mathis recently reopened the case.

“The victim unequivocally stated she wanted justice,” Mathis said.

The Dale County District Attorney’s Office issued the warrant for Ganous’ arrest. He was taken to Dale County Jail on a $30,000 bond that was reduced to $15,000, which he posted, according to the statement.

Ganous is expected to appear before Dale County District Judge Stanley Garner on Wednesday.

According to court records, the case is already set to appear before a grand jury in June.

Ganous’ attorney, RG Robinson, said he would address the case Wednesday.
