Dale County Schools improvement projects on target

OZARK — Capital improvement projects appear to be on target in the Dale County School system.

On Tuesday, the school board approved accepting bids for restroom renovations at Ariton, Southdale Middle and Newton Elementary Schools.

Dale County Superintendent Phillip Parker said a roofing project at Midland City was almost complete, and that plans to renovate G.W. Long Schools should be under way in the spring.

“We should be getting ready to submit plans to the state (for Long),” Parker said.

The school board voted in January to borrow $3 million to fund a collective $7 million in capital projects after months of intense discussion among parents and school officials.

At least $6.5 million is expected to go toward projects at Long.

Thank you, Mr. Parker, for getting these projects off the ground before you leave office! You will be greatly missed, you have been a great asset to the Dale County School System!
